Statistics
Today 1,346,257 men live in Lithuania. About 20,000 – 25,000 of them have prostate cancer (PCa). Every year 2,500 – 3,000 more are diagnosed with PCa and about 500 – 600 men per year die from PCa. Prostate cancer is the most common malignant disease in men population.
History
Lithuanian Prostate Cancer Patient Association is nonprofit organization which was established in the year 2000. Association was created as a bridge between patients, physicians and ministry of health for providing better care to prostate cancer patients. Today association has 42 true members and 3,000 PCa patients who support our work. Association is represented by president Paulius Rakštys who this year replaced a longtime former association president Gediminas Žižys.
